To Use a Tool Model
1. Click > in the Tools Setup dialog box to retrieve one or more tool models for use in Creo NC. Creo NC looks up the tool model and reads appropriate dimension values into the tool parameter file. When displaying CL data, you have an option to display the tool model, or a default tool.
2. In the Tools Setup dialog box, click > .

Ensure that you select the correct tool type from the Tool Type list in the dialog box before retrieving a solid tool model.

3. Select one of the following modes of retrieving the tool model:
◦ By Reference—Direct associativity with the library model is established. You cannot modify the tool parameters for a particular NC sequence using the Tool Setup dialog box. If you modify the tool model in the library later, Creo NC updates all the manufacturing data when you regenerate the manufacturing model.
◦ By Copy—The tool information is copied into the manufacturing model. You can modify the tool parameters for the NC sequence using the Tools Setup dialog box; Creo NC does not change the library model. If you modify the library model later, this does not affect the manufacturing model.
◦ Use Outline—Creo NC reads in the model parameters and geometry, and generates the tool outline. For more information, see To Use Tool Outline in Turning.
4. Select one or more tool model names from the browser window and click Open.
Creo NC reads in the tool parameters from the model (the model name is used as the tool Name). Creo NC also includes the names of the component parts and assemblies of the tool model in the BOM table, located on the BOM tab of the Tool Setup dialog box.

For solid multiple tip tools, Creo Parametric does not check whether the diameter of a given tool tip is greater than that of the previous tool tip.
