To Add Geometry to an Import Feature from an External File
1. Select a standard import feature on the Model Tree and click Model > Operations > Edit Definition or select the import feature on the Model Tree or the graphics window and click on the mini toolbar that appears. The Import tab opens.
*
If you add geometry to ATB-enabled features, the added geometry is lost when you update the imported features in ATB. Therefore, make sure that the import feature is not ATB-enabled when you add geometry to the feature.
2. Click Options > Add From File on the Import tab. The Add From File dialog box opens.
3. Click under Source. The Import New dialog box opens.
4. Browse and select a source file in the Import New dialog box.
5. Retain the original import profile settings or click Details in the Add From File dialog box and reset the import options in the embedded profile, especially to filter unwanted data.
*
If you reset the Use templates, Import type, and Enable ATB profile option settings, the changed settings are ignored when you add geometry to the import feature. These profile option settings are only valid during the initial import of the models.
6. Click Customize layer filter to reset the layer filters.
7. Click the Placement tab in the Add From File dialog box. Csys Reference displays the name of the coordinate system used by the import feature.
8. Retain the default coordinate system reference or select a coordinate system as reference to place the added geometry.
9. Click OK. The GTS tree in the Import DataDoctor (IDD) environment displays the new geometry as the top-level node, ADD_1.
10. Edit the geometry of the new node in IDD if required.
11. Click on the Import tab.
