About Custom Start Part and Assembly Template Files
You can import parts and assemblies into custom start part and assembly template files so that the imported models contain the predefined template information, such as datums, layers, saved views, and parameters. These template details determine the model accuracy of the imported parts and assemblies.
The standard predefined start part and template files are used for the import when you select the Use templates option in the import profile or the Import New Model dialog box. If the template_solidpart and template_designasm configuration options are set to specify the path and name of the customized start part and assembly template files, these files are used when importing the part and assembly models.
When Creo cannot locate the custom start part and start assembly template files that are designated in the config.pro file, you are prompted whether to continue with the import. If you choose to continue, the import proceeds without the use of the template files.
When custom start part and assembly template files are used for the import, the imported models are automatically applied the model accuracy of the template files. The Automatic option in the import profiles specifies that the model accuracy of the template files is automatically applied when custom start part and assembly template files are used for the model import.
When part and assembly template files are not used for the import, you can set Model Accuracy to the External or the Internal option in the import profiles, especially when you import Parasolid or Parasolid-based models that belong to the following file formats:
NX
SolidWorks
Solid Edge
Neutral formats such as STEP and IGES
*
It is recommended that the custom start part template files contain only datum geometry.
