To Automatically Convert a non-Creo Model to a TIM
1. Open a Creo assembly with non-Creo models as components from the Windchill server.
2. Right-click a non-Creo component on the Model Tree and click Activate.
3. Select geometry on the non-Creo component and begin modifying the component. The Conflicts dialog box opens. It prompts you to check out the read-only component.
4. Select Continue from the Action list and click OK in the Conflicts dialog box.
The Confirmation dialog box opens. It notifies you that the design changes that you are about to make to the non-Creo component will not be reflected in the source model. It asks you whether you want to convert the component to a Creo model.
5. Retain the default selection of Convert and click OK on the Confirmation dialog box. The Convert to new Creo models dialog box opens. The New name column of the Model Tree displays the read-only Creo-assigned names of the Translated Image Models (TIMs).
6. Retain the default selection of Convert automatically and click OK.
The non-Creo component and its non-Creo parent model are converted to Creo TIM parts and assemblies.
The Conflicts dialog box prompts you to check out the top Creo assembly model. You can select Check out now from the Action list in the Conflicts dialog box to check out the top assembly model.
The Creo TIM parts and assemblies replace the highlighted non-Creo component and its non-Creo parent model on the Model Tree.
The non-Creo CAD icons change to the Creo icons that represent the TIM parts and assemblies.
The converted model remains in session. The TIM parts and assemblies are active and are ready for the design changes.
The Warning — TIM models already exist on server! warning dialog box opens when TIM parts and assemblies exist on the Windchill server for the non-Creo components. It lists the TIM parts and assemblies that exist for the non-Creo component on the server and suggests that you reuse the existing TIMs and not create TIM parts and assemblies. The warning dialog box recommends that you use the Replace command to reuse the existing TIM parts and assemblies from the server for the design changes.
7. If the Warning — TIM models already exist on server! warning dialog box opens, click one of the following options:
Continue to proceed with the conversion of the non-Creo component to a TIM part or assembly and replace the non-Creo component with this newly-created TIM model.
Cancel to manually replace the non-Creo component with its existing TIM part or assembly from the Windchill server and reuse the existing TIM model for the design changes.
8. Restart the design changes on the new or the existing TIM part or assembly that replaced the non-Creo component.
9. Click File > Check In > Auto Check In or right-click the model and click Check In > Auto to check in the model with the design changes to the Windchill server.
