The ifx_screw_data.cfg Configuration File
In the ifx_screw_data.cfg file located at <creo_loadpoint>\Common Files\ifx\configuration\, you can configure the values used in the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box. See the column headings and values of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file in the tables below. Each table describes a different section of the file. When editing this file, be sure to press TAB to separate values.
In the THREAD DATA section of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file, enter the thread values for the columns DG and P. If the values are not defined in the DAT file, they are taken from here. The default value for Metric is ISO THREAD DIN 13 and for UNC, Unified Coarse Thread Series. The values described in the table below are required for the 2D preview of the thread.
THREAD DATA
Column
Value
#THREAD or #THREAD#<DAT VALUE>
The unit of the thread, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
DG
The drill diameter.
P
The pitch in threads per inch.
In the THREAD RUNOUT section of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file, enter the values for the additional thread depth and the thread runout. These values appear in the Side 2 – Thread, Thread depth and Drill depth lists in the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box.
THREAD RUNOUT
Column
Value
#RUNOUT or #RUNOUT#<DAT VALUE>
The unit of the thread runout, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
X
The additional thread depth
E1
The thread runout.
In the COUNTERBOREDIAMETER FOR SCREW’S section, enter the values for the counterbore diameters on the screw side. You can add your own columns. The values appear in the Side 1 – Counterbore lists in the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box. The default values are listed below:
DIN 974-1:2008-02
Diameter of counterbores - Manufacturing Dimensions
Part 1: Hexagon socket head cap screws and screws with cheese head or pan head
DIN 974-2
Diameters of counterbores for hexagon bolts, screws and nuts; manufacturing dimensions
You can preselect the columns for the screws and the washers on the screw side. Write #CBSCR <COLUMN> to the DAT file.
COUNTERBOREDIAMETER FOR SCREW'S
Column
Value
#CBSCR
The unit of the counterbore diameter for screws, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
<COLUMN>
The side 1 counterbore diameters.
In the COUNTERBOREDIAMETERS FOR NUTS section, enter the values for the counterbore diameters on the nut side. You can add your own columns. The values appear in the Side 2 – Counterbore lists in the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box. The default values are listed below:
DIN 974-2
Diameters of counterbores for hexagon bolts, screws and nuts; manufacturing dimensions
INCH - ROW1 for Socket Head Cap Screws
COUNTERBOREDIAMETERS FOR NUT'S
Column
Value
#CBNUT
The unit of the counterbore diameter for nuts, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
<COLUMN>
The side 2 counterbore diameters.
In the ADDITIONAL COUNTERBOREDEPTH FOR SCREWS AND NUTS section, you can add value to your counterbore depth. If you select the Side 1 – Counterbore check box or the Side 2 – Counterbore check box, then the depth of the counterbore is calculated automatically, based on the height of the screw or nut head and the heights of the washers. Use ADD_DEPTH to add more depth so that the fastener is not flush mounted. COUNTERBOREDEPTH can be summarized in the equation below:
COUNTERBOREDEPTH = HEADHEIGHT + WASHERHEIGHTS + ADD_DEPTH
ADDITIONAL COUNTERBOREDEPTH FOR SCREWS AND NUTS
Column
Value
#ADDCB or #ADDCB#<DAT VALUE>
The unit for additional counterbore depth for screws and nuts, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
ADD_DEPTH
The additional counterbore depth for screws and nuts.
In the MIN and MAX (Screw-in depth for screws) section of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file, enter the minimum and maximum screw-in depth. In the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box, if you click Set length automatically or Permanently set length automatically, the application searches for a screw length within these limits.
MIN and MAX (Screw-in depth for screws)
Column
Value
#ETSCR or #ETSCR#<DAT VALUE>
The unit for minimum and maximum screw-in depth, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
MIN
The minimum screw-in depth.
MAX
The maximum screw-in depth
In the MIN and MAX section of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file, enter minimum and maximum protrusion of bolt ends. In the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box. if you click Set length automatically or Permanently set length automatically, the application searches for a screw length within these limits.
MIN and MAX
Column
Value
#MUSCR or #MUSCR#<DAT VALUE>
The unit for minimum and maximum protrusion for bolt ends, either MM or INCH. This is always the first column.
DN
The fastener diameter.
MIN
The minimum protrusion.
MAX
The maximum protrusion.
The following example shows two sections for domed cap nuts in the MUSCR section of the ifx_screw_data.cfg file. These nuts require different protrusions of bolt ends than in dependence on DIN 78.

To access these special values, you have to add the following line to ‘Section 1’ (Fastener Information) in your fastener data file (*.dat):
MUSCR 1587
or
MUSCR JND
If you do not enter a MUSCR value, then the default value is taken.
