About Text in Drawings
You can add text to a drawing in the form of a note using > . To manipulate notes in other ways, such as rotating, mirroring, and copying, you can use the same commands that you use to manipulate detail items.
To specify the note type, select from the following displayed in the NOTE TYPES menu:
• No Leader—Creates a note without a leader.
• Leader—Creates a note with a leader. You can attach a leader to an entity or to any point on the drawing.
• ISO Leader—Creates a note with an ISO-standard leader.
• On Item—Creates a note on an edge, datum point, or axis.
• Enter—Prompts you to type text from the keyboard. When typing notes, conclude each line of text with <CR>; to end the note, type <CR><CR>. To include a blank line in the note text, type <SPACE><CR>.
• File—Prompts you to enter text from a text file.
• Horizontal—Creates a horizontal note.
• Vertical—Creates a vertical note.
• Angular—Creates a note at an angle. Specify a positive angular value between 0 and 359 degrees.
• Standard—Attaches more than one leader to a note.
• Normal Leader—Places a leader normal to the specified entity; in this case, the note can have only one leader.
• Tangent Leader—Places a leader tangent to the specified entity; in this case, the note can have only one leader.
• Left—Left-justifies text.
• Center—Centers text.
• Right—Right-justifies text.
• Default—Justifies text using the default justification. The justification selected for the first note becomes the default for all successive notes added during the current session.
• Style Lib—Creates or modifies text styles.
• Cur Style—Sets the current text style.
• Make Note—Begins the note making process.
Editing a Note
You can create, modify, and delete text styles of drawing notes using Texton the MODIFY DRAW menu. When you click Text, the Modify Text menu displays the following:
• Text Line—Modifies a single line of text in a note.
• Full Note—Enters the editor, allowing you to modify any portion of the note text.
• Text Height—Modifies text height of multiple dimensions or notes.
• Text Style—Modifies the style of existing text. The dialog box opens.
• Style Lib—Adds, deletes, or edits named text styles. The Text Style Gallerydialog box opens.
• Cur Style—Displays a list of existing styles, prompting you to select one as the current style. If you select Default, the style that is defined by the drawing_text_height, text_width_factor, and text_thickness drawing setup file options is used.
• Leader Type—Toggles a note leader between ISO-standard and non-ISO-standard leader styles.
Procedures on Notes
You can perform the following procedures on notes using options for manipulating detail items:
• Move an unattached note using Move in the Draft menu.
• Reattach notes with leaders usingMod Attach in the Draft menu.
• Rotate a note using Rotate in the Tools menu.
• Mirror a note about a mirror line using Mirror in the Tools menu.
• Add a jog to a note leader using Make Jog in the Draft menu.
• Copy a note using Copy in the Tools menu.
• Switch a note to another sheet using Switch Sheet in the Sheets menu.
