To Create a Spot Weld
You can select multiple locations (existing datum points) for spot welds and create one weld in multiple locations, or you can create a single spot weld and use pitch functionality to create additional welds based on the first weld. Spot welds use datum points on a surface as references for their location.
1. Click Applications > Welding. The Welding tab opens.
2. Click Spot Weld. The Spot Weld tab opens.
3. Select one of the following options:
Click to create a weld based on diameter. Type a value for diameter.
Click to create a weld based on spot strength. Type a value for strength.
Click to create a weld based on cross-sectional area. Type a value for area.
4. Click the Location tab, click the Location collector, and then perform one of the following actions:
Select a single datum point in the Model Tree or graphics window. To use pitch welding to create additional welds based on the first weld, do the following actions:
1. Select the Pitch welding check box.
2. Click the Direction Reference collector, and then select a reference in the Model Tree or graphics window to set the pitch direction. If needed, click Flip to flip the pitch direction 180 degrees.
3. Type or select the number of welds to create in the Number of welds box.
4. Type or select the distance between weld centers in the Spacing box.

You can also use the Pattern tool to create additional welds based on one spot weld.
To create multiple welds in one operation, select multiple datum points in the Model Tree or graphics window.
5. Select the surface on which the weld is located, and then click a command:

6. Click the Options tab, and define the weld options.
7. Click the Symbol tab, and define the properties of the weld symbol displayed in the graphics window.
8. To add a user-defined parameter, click the Properties tab, and then click Define. Enter a parameter in the Parameters dialog box that opens.
