Result Display Options for Particles
The particle display options are available only when the result quantity selected is velocity. Click
Display Options and then click the arrow next to
Particles. Click
Particle Options to open the
Animation Options dialog box. Click to change any of the following particle options:
• Particle Option Buttons—The following buttons control the animation of particles.
◦ —Applies the settings to all the sets of particle emitters. By default, this button is pressed.
◦ —Switches between starting or stopping the animation of particle display.
◦ —Toggles the display of colors for the particles. By default, this button is pressed.
◦ —Opens a particle emitter. Allows you to select a particle emitter from the graphics window. By default, particle emitters are not displayed in the graphics window.
◦ —Resets particle animation.
The following two options are available when the
button is not pressed (particle mode).
Min Gate and
Max Gate affect the velocity ranges displayed. By default, particles are shown for all velocities.
• Min Gate—Slide Min Gate to the right to filter out slower moving particles.
• Max Gate—Slide Max Gate to the left to filter out faster moving particles.
Use the following options to change the settings for a selected particle emitter. These options are available when the
button is pressed (emitter mode).
• Emission Rate—Changes the rate of particle emission.
• Emitter Radius—Changes the size of the particle emitter.
The following options are available in both particle and emitter mode.
• Step Size—Changes the size of the time steps used in the display. Particles move faster when the step size is larger.
• Size—Changes the size of particles.
• Transparency—Changes the transparency of particles.
