About Saving Results in Creo Simulate
Once you define and display result windows, you can save results that capture the vital points of your analyses and design studies. You can print reports in a wide variety of print formats, to output reports as HTML, and save results in VRML and OL formats. For graphs, you can generate specialized graph reports so you can study the graph sampling points in depth.
Use the following options from the Type list on the Save a Copy and Save a Backup dialog boxes on the File tab to save results:
Simulate Results Definition (*.rwd)—Saves the current set of result definitions and associated views as a named .rwd file.
Creo View (*.pvs)—Saves fringe or contour plots as .pvs files. The .pvs file file format is a special format for viewing files in Creo View.
Simulate Results Template (*.rwt)—Saves the current result window definition and some of the result window attributes as a named template .rwt file. Use this dialog box to choose a directory and name the file. When you select this option and click on Save, the Save Results Template dialog box opens. Select the appropriate check boxes to save the units, title, legend values, model orientation, annotations, and the deformed scale of the results to the template.
You can optionally store the legend values, model orientation, annotations, and deformed scale for the result window as part of the template. Once you create a result window definition as a template, you can create other result windows from the template by selecting the Home > New fromTemplate command.
Web Page (*.html)—Saves result windows to an HTML file for web viewing.
VRML (*.wrl)—Saves a single fringe plot at a time in VRML format.
Graph Tabular File (*.grt)—Saves a graph report file for a single, selected graph. The output file is a text file.
MS Excel Files (*.xls)—Saves a single graph for viewing in Microsoft Excel. The output file is a .xls file.
Movie (*.avi)—Saves a single animated result window to an AVI file.
TLBMPEG (*.mpg)—Saves a single animated result window to an MPG file.
NASTRAN input (*.nas)—Saves a deformed or an undeformed surface in NASTRAN format.
Vault Results (*.mrs)—Saves the results directory and the associated views in a compressed .mrs format to a Windchill workspace.
Vault HTML Reports (*.mrp)—Saves the current set of result definitions and the associated views in a web page or HTML format to a Windchill workspace.
When preparing to generate reports, you can pay particular attention to the aesthetics of the result windows you are printing or saving. You should also consider formatting the result windows to emphasize the aspects of the result you want to focus on when you share the information with others.
For example, blended or dark background colors may make it difficult to read some of the information, depending on the quality of your printer. You may want to eliminate excess text from the result window by using View > Appearance > Visibilities and turning off labels. You can work with the Edit Legend dialog box to ensure that you are using the best color scale to reflect what takes place in a fringe plot. You can highlight parts of your results and add information using annotations.
You can also e-mail the HTML report and PVS files of an analysis from the active window to the intended recipients using File > Send > Mail Recipient (As Attachment).
