Materials Dialog Box
When you Click Home > MaterialsCreo Simulate displays the Materials dialog box. Creo Simulate also opens this dialog box as you define certain connections, such as spot welds and fasteners, or when you create certain idealizations, such as beams and shells, or when you define a material assignment.
Use the Materials dialog box to:
Create, edit, copy, and delete materials from your model
Add a material to the library
Add a material to the model from the library
Edit a material in the library
The following buttons on the dialog box enable you to perform various operations:
Button

The following lists appear on the material dialog box:
Materials in Library—This is a list of the materials saved in your library. You can select one of the materials to assign to your model. If you do not have your own library, this list displays the materials from the default material library.
Materials in Model—This is a list of the materials in the model database. You can select one or more materials to assign to entities.
The Look In box in the Materials in Library area displays the Material Directory that contains the default material definitions. The default material library is located in the text subdirectory of the Creo Parametric installation directory, and contains a few selected materials. This library is intended, primarily, as a template for you to follow when creating your own material library.
If you want Creo Parametric to select any other directory as the material directory by default, set the pro_material_dir configuration option to the path of the required directory.
Use the arrow keys to do the following:
—Add a material to the model from the library. This places the material in the model database. Note that the material must be explicitly assigned to have an effect on an analysis.
