Steady Thermal Analysis
You can use steady-state thermal analyses to calculate the thermal response to heat loads depending on the prescribed temperatures or applied convection conditions or both. Steady-state thermal analyses assume a steady-state for all thermal loads and boundary conditions. This form of analysis does not evaluate changes over time.
For a description of and requirements for steady-state thermal analysis, see Steady Thermal Analysis Overview.
The following items are available on the Steady Thermal Analysis Definition dialog box:
Nonlinear / Use Load Histories—Select this check box if you want to run a nonlinear steady-state thermal analysis with load histories.
You can run a nonlinear steady-state thermal analysis for models with the following characteristics:
temperature-dependent thermal conductivity
temperature-dependent convection coefficients
radiation conditions
For any of these models the Nonlinear / Use Load Histories check box is selected automatically and the relevant cause of nonlinearity is highlighted.
Constraints—Allows you to select one or more constraint sets for an analysis.
Loads—Allows you to select one or more load sets for an analysis. This is optional.
Initial Temperature—Specifies the initial temperature of the model. This is the temperature of the model before loads and other boundary conditions become active. Select the units of temperature from the adjacent drop-down list or use the default principal system of units.
