Shells—Creo Ansys Simulation
You can use shell idealizations to model a thin region of a constant defined thickness for a part. If the part, or region is relatively thin compared to its length and width, use a shell to simplify the model and reduce computation time.
To Define a Shell
Use the following procedure to create shells in your model.
1. Click Refine Model > Shell to open the Shell Definition dialog box.
2. Specify a Name for the shell or accept the default name. Optionally, click the color swatch adjacent to the Name box to change the color of the icon, the distribution, and the text displayed for the spring.
3. Select quilt surfaces to create shells on. Your selections are displayed in the References collector.
4. Specify a value for shell thickness in the Thickness box. The value must be a positive real value, a parameter or an expression that evaluates to a positive real value.
5. Select a material from the model in the Material list or click More to select a material, or create a material that is not in the model.
6. Click OK to create the shell idealization and to save it.
