Saving and Exporting Results in Creo Ansys Simulation
Creo Ansys Simulation uses two folders to store simulation data:
Run Folder—This is the folder in which all temporary simulation data is stored while you work. The run folder maintains the association between your model and the simulation data for temporary work that is not saved.
Cache Folder—This folder stores simulation data when you save the model using the File > Save command. When you save, the model is saved to your working directory (or wherever you created it) and the associated simulation data including simulation studies, simulation inputs for all studies, and results for all studies is saved to the cache folder. The software maintains the association between your model and saved simulation data for the model.
About Back Up Files
When you work on a simulation study you might have temporary simulation data that is not saved. When you mesh a model, or run a simulation study, Creo Ansys Simulation first creates a back up copy of your model along with the last run results.
Exporting Results to an Archive
You can save all the results and simulation data along with the model to a Creo archived file with the file extension .apr.
To create a .apr file of your model and results, perform the following steps:
1. Click File > Save As > Save Simulation Data.
2. The Export Creo Ansys Project dialog box opens. Specify a filename for the archive.
3. Click Export to save the archived .apr file.
The .apr file contains the results of the last simulation study that was run and the backed up model at that time.
Retrieving Model and Results from .apr Archive
To retrieve your model, simulation inputs and results from an archived folder, perform the following steps:
1. Click File > Open to open theFile Open dialog box.
2. Select Creo Ansys Project (*.apr) from the Type list.
3. Select a previously archived .apr file and click OK.
4. The model opens in Creo Ansys Simulation along with the simulation inputs and results.
*
It is recommended that you open a .apr file in an “Empty” Creo session. If you have a model open in a Creo session, and you open the .apr file for the same model, then your current in-session results are overwritten by the results from the .apr file.
Opening multiple .apr files for the same model can result in results becoming out-of-date with respect to the model displayed.
