Joint Behavior—Creo Ansys Simulation
Joint behaviors define the behavioral properties of a joint. You can use joint behavior to define the degrees of freedom of the mobile reference. Joint behavior is independent of a specific joint. Once you create a joint behavior you can save it with the model, apply it to multiple joints, and use it in different simulation studies.
When defining a new joint, you can either create a new joint behavior, or use one of the existing joint behaviors. You cannot change the properties of system-defined joint behaviors.
The following table lists the allowed stationary reference, mobile reference, and the degree of freedom behaviors of the mobile reference for the pre-defined and general joint behaviors:

To Define a Joint Behavior
You can define a new general joint behavior by specifying the translational and rotational degrees of freedom.
1. Click Refine Model > Joint > Joint Behavior. The General Joint Behavior Definition dialog box opens.
You can also define a general joint behavior by selecting Create New from the Joint behavior list on the Joint Definition dialog box.
2. Specify a name for the joint behavior or use the default name.
3. Select a value of Fixed or Free for each of the following degree of freedom options :
Translation along X
Translation along Y
Translation along Z
Rotation—Select the option Fixed Allor Free All to fix or free rotations about all axes, or choose an option to allow rotation about any one axis.
Click OK to create the joint behavior and to save it.
Saved joint behaviors are displayed in the Simulation Tree and are the parent node of joints that use the behavior. They are also available in the Joint behavior list on the Joint Definition dialog box.
