Gravity Load—Creo Ansys Simulation
Gravity loads are body loads that simulate the force of gravity as it affects your model. When you define a gravity load, you specify the components of gravitational acceleration along one of the coordinate directions. A negative value opposes the coordinate direction. For example, if you want to simulate a downward gravitational force of 1G (386.4 in/sec2) in the Y direction, and you are working in in/sec2, you type –386.4 in the Magnitude box and select Y as the direction. If you specify 386.4, the gravitational force would be in the upward direction. Gravity applies to all bodies in the model.
To Define a Gravity Load
1. Within a structural simulation study, click Ansys Simulation > Gravity. The Gravity Load dialog box opens.
2. Specify a name for the load, or use the default name. Optionally click the color swatch adjacent to the Name box to change the color of the icon, the distribution, or the text displayed for the load.
3. The default coordinate system of the model is the reference coordinate system and is displayed in the Coordinate system collector. In the case of an assembly, the coordinate system of the top level assembly is the default coordinate system. If the model does not have a default coordinate system then the Coordinate system collector is empty.
You can select an alternative reference coordinate system from the Model Tree or Graphics Window.
Click to return to using the default coordinate system of the model. If the model does not have a default coordinate system then the button is not available.
4. Select the direction of gravitational acceleration for the X-, Y- or Z- directions.
5. Select units of gravitational acceleration from the drop-down list or accept the default units.
6. Click OK to create the gravity load.
