About Creating Flat Pattern Instances
Flat pattern instances define multiple versions of an unbent sheetmetal part that are used to prepare the model for manufacture. Create one or more flat pattern instances during the design process and then manage them using Family Tables. You can define a flat pattern instance using the following methods:
(Best practice) Click Sheetmetal > Flat Pattern > Create Instance, or click Create Instance in the Flat Pattern Preview window. The New Instance dialog box opens. Type a name for the new instance and click Create.
Use standard Family Table commands for a part with an Unbend or Flat Pattern feature. For more information, search the Fundamentals area of the Help Center.
Use legacy flat state instance commands for bent or unbent parts when the enable_flat_state configuration is set to yes or when there is one legacy flat state instance in your model.
