To Route a Pipeline by Following an Existing Pipeline
1. Click Follow > Follow Pipe. The Follow Pipeline dialog box opens.
2. Select up to two segments on the Reference Pipeline.
3. Click the Reference box to select the reference for Transformation or right-click in the graphics window and choose Pipeline Transformation Reference from the shortcut menu. Select a reference. Valid references are a plane to offset the new pipeline or a pipe end or datum point used as a start point or reference point for the new pipeline.
4. When you select a pipe end or datum point, you can change the reference type from a start point to a through point. Click Start Point and choose Through Point from the list.
5. When you select a plane, type an Offset value or drag the handle in the graphics window to set the offset.
6. Set the First End Offset and Second End Offset options to specify the start and end points of the new pipe segment.
Select a From option:
On End—Locates the point on the end of the axis, curve, or sketch.
Offset End—Locates the point the specified Offset distance from the end of the axis, curve, or sketch.
Offset Reference—Locates the point the specified Offset distance from the selected coordinate system or plane.

You can only select a plane that is perpendicular to the axis, curve, or sketch.
7. Click the Recreate fitting on follow check box to insert fittings in the new pipe segment.
8. Click the Build follow with Extend features check box to build the new pipeline feature as a set of extends and not a single follow feature.
