To Route a Branch to a Pipeline
1. Set a start point.
2. Click Branch. The Branch Pipe dialog box opens.
3. Under Reference, select a point, a pipe segment, or a corner for specifying the branch point.
4. If you specify the branch point on a segment or at a corner, select a Dimension option. The location type selected displays in a read-only box.
5. Type a Dimension value and press ENTER. You can also double-click the value in the graphics window or use the thumbwheel to edit the value.
6. If you are inserting an angle branch, select Control placement using angle and use the slider, type a value, or double-click the value in the graphics window and type a value to adjust the angles. With this option, you can only modify the angle. To control the angle type, click Angle Type at the top of the Branch Pipe dialog box and select one of the following options:
Angle To—Angle where the branch ends.
Angle From—Angle where the branch starts.
7. Click the arrow to display the Offset from options. These options are available when the new pipe size and the main pipe size are different.
8. Click OK.
Dimension Options
Command
Description
Sets the start point the specified distance from an end of the selected segment. Drag the handle or type a value to specify the distance from the corner.
Sets the start point the specified length ratio from an end of the selected segment. Drag the handle or type a value to specify the ratio from the corner.
Sets the start point on the specified distance from the corner.
Sets the start point at the specified distance from a selected plane. Select a plane and type a value for the distance.
Sets the start point the specified distance from a fitting. This option is not applicable for Non-Specification Driven Piping.

If you select the first two options, you can click or to reference the opposite end of the pipe segment.
