Inserting Flanged Fittings with Different Bolt Nuts
Use the sample files provided at <Creo load point>\Common Files\help\sample_models\piping when working in this exercise. It is recommended that you create a copy of the piping folder on your computer and set up piping data before you start working with the tutorial.
Workflow
1. Create a pipe segment.
2. Update the Bolt Nut Bulk part.
3. Update the Bolt Nut Selection catalog file.
4. Insert a fitting.
Create a Pipe Segment
1. On the Home tab, click New. The New dialog box opens.
2. Under Type, select Assembly.
3. Click OK to create a new assembly.
4. Click Applications > Piping. The Piping tab opens.
5. On the Piping tab, select the Spec Driven check box.
6. Click Create Pipe. The Create Pipeline dialog box opens.
7. In the Size box, select 100A.
8. In the Number box, type 1.
9. Click OK. The Create Pipeline dialog box closes.
10. Click Set Start. The Define Start dialog box opens.
11. Select ASM_DEF_CSYS in the graphics window.
12. Click OK. The Define Start dialog box closes.
13. Click Extend. The Extend dialog box opens.
14. In the z box, type 2000 and press ENTER.
15. Click OK. A pipe segment is created.
Update the Bolt Nut Bulk Part
1. Click . The Open File dialog box opens.
2. In the piping folder, double-click the piping_data folder, and open the fittinglib folder.
3. In the general folder and double-click bolt_nut_bulk.prt. The Select Instance dialog box opens.
4. Select the The Generic instance and click Open. The Relations dialog box opens.
5. Click Family Table.
6. Click . A new instance is added to the family table.
7. Type the following values in the new instance:

8. Click to verify instances of the family. Click Verify in the Family Tree dialog box. Click Close when the verification status of the newly added instances is Success.
9. Click OK. The family table closes.
10. Click OK. The Relations dialog box closes.
Update the Bolt Nut Selection Catalog File
1. In the piping folder, double-click the piping_data folder, and open the master_catalog folder.
2. Open the piping_bolt_nut_select.csv file.
3. Insert a row and add the following values to the file:

4. Save the Bolt Nut Selection file.
Insert a Fitting
1. Click Piping > Setup > Update Model. The Update Model dialog box opens.
2. Under Model Information, click to select all the options to update.
3. Click OK. The Confirm Cancel dialog box opens. Click Yes to confirm the update. The dialog boxes close and Spec-Driven Piping updates the active assembly information.
4. Click Insert Fitting. The Insert Fitting dialog box opens.
5. Select the pipe segment in the graphics window.
6. In the Bolt nut code box, select NEW.
7. Click OK. The bolt nut bulk part is inserted.
8. Click Piping Info. The Report Pipeline dialog box opens.
9. Under Type, click to display the pipeline report.
10. Select a bolt nut hole in the graphics window.

11. Click OK in the Select dialog box. The INFORMATION WINDOW opens.

The newly added bolt nut part appears at the bottom.
12. Close the INFORMATION WINDOW and the Report Pipeline dialog box.
