To Create a Dependent Copy of Sketch-Based Features
Copying a sketched-based feature using Model > Paste Special creates a dependent copy that preserves the dependency of the section dimensions.
1. Select a sketch-based feature to copy.
2. Click Model > Copy.
3. Click Model > Paste Special. The Paste Special dialog box opens with Partially dependent - Dimensions and AE Details only as the default option.
4. Select Advanced reference configuration, and click OK. The Advanced Reference Configuration dialog box opens.
5. Perform one of the following actions, depending on whether you are copying features that use an external sketch or an internal sketch:
External sketch
Keep the original references of the sketch.
*
You cannot vary the dimension dependency of the external sketch.
Internal sketch
Optionally, to replace an original feature reference with a new one:
1. Select a reference from the References of original features list.
2. Under References of pasted features, click the collector, and select a new reference.
To restore the original references, click Reset.
*
You must specify the sketching plane, view orientation, and sketch dimensional references using the Advanced Reference Configuration dialog box. If not, the dimension dependency of the section is not preserved.
6. To create new bodies to be used as references in the copies, under References of original features, select the body reference, and select Create new body. Otherwise the copied geometry is created in the same body as the original geometry.
