To Rename an Object
In most cases, a name can be used only once in a Creo model. When an object is already using a name that you want to use, then you must rename that object, or delete it, before the name is free for you to use for a different object.
You might be notified that a name is used by an inactive object. An inactive object is a feature or geometry that no longer exists, or that is not visible. These objects can be accessed in the Model Properties dialog box, described below.
Select the procedure based on the application in which you are working.

You cannot rename the top-level Part or Assembly in the Model Tree.
To rename a feature from the Model Tree
Perform one of the following actions:
Right-click the feature name in the Model Tree, choose Rename from the shortcut menu, and then type the new name.
Double-click the feature name in the Model Tree, and then type the new name.
Select the feature name in the Model Tree, press F2 on your keyboard, and then type the new name.
To rename or remove an object from the Model Properties dialog box
1. Click File > Prepare > Model Properties. The Model Properties dialog box opens.
2. Under Features and Geometry, click change in the Names line. The Rename dialog box opens.
3. If the name that you want to use is being used by an inactive object, remove the inactive object to make the name available:
a. Select the row that contains the inactive object.
b. Click Remove. The name of the removed object becomes available.
4. Under Name, select the object name to change.
5. Type the new name, and then press ENTER.
6. Click OK in the Rename dialog box.
7. Click Close in the Model Properties dialog box.

If a datum point array feature contains a single point only, the name of the point and the name of the feature are identical.
Names cannot contain spaces and are limited to 31 characters.
