About the Regeneration Failure User Interface
The Regeneration Failure user interface consists of the following items:
• Regeneration Failure dialog box
• Regeneration Manager
• Shortcut menus
Regeneration Failure Dialog Box
The Regeneration Failure dialog box can open only if either of these conditions exist:
• The Create Backup Models check box is selected on the Preferences tab of the Regeneration Manager.
• The regen_backup_using_disk configuration option is set to yes.
If either of the above conditions exist, the Regeneration Failure dialog box opens when one or more features fails to regenerate.
• OK—Completes the regeneration, including failures.
• Cancel—Stops the regeneration and undoes the changes that caused the failure. This command is only available when you create a new feature, and when the changes can be undone automatically.
You cannot undo the Cancel operation. After you click OK, you can still use > to undo the changes.
Regeneration Manager
The Regeneration Manager lists the status of the features that need regeneration. Use it to set regeneration preferences and skip features during regeneration.
When Create Backup Models is selected on the Preferences tab and you click Regenerate, first a backup model is created, and then the model is regenerated. The backup model is discarded when the regeneration is completed successfully.
• Search—Searches the Regeneration List and highlights the results.
• Tree Filters—Displays the Checked items, the Unchecked items, or both in the Regeneration List.
• Options—Sets some standard options for a Model Tree. Save Tree saves the Regeneration List as a text file.
• Regeneration List—Shows the items in the Model Tree that need regeneration. Each node in the tree has a check box. When the check box is selected, the item is included in a regeneration operation. When the check box is cleared, the item is skipped during a regeneration operation.
• Status—Shows the regeneration status for each feature.
• Description—Explains the reason for the regeneration of the feature.
• Save Preferences—Saves changes to the preferences and closes the dialog box.
• Regenerate—Regenerates the model, excluding items in the Regeneration List whose check boxes are cleared. Saves the changes to the preferences and closes the dialog box.
• Cancel—Quits the dialog box without regenerating or saving the changes.
Shortcut Menus
Use the shortcut menu to view feature information and references. The menu also contains the commands that are applicable to the failed feature you selected. These can include commands to retrieve a missing component, make a Data Sharing feature independent, freeze a component, or restore an Inheritance feature. You can also suppress failed features.
