A Designate Area feature is a quilt that can be used to indicate areas for close examination or a special treatment. You define the borders of the designated area by using chain sets of curves or edges. The curves can lie on the following object types:

If the chains lie on multiple object types, you must define one object type on which to place the surface. When the designated area is defined, you can attach an annotation to its surface or boundaries.

The Designate Area feature and its parent object have standard parent and child relationships. For example, if the parent changes its location, the designated surface location or shape can be affected. However, if a downstream feature changes the shape or location of the parent of a designated surface, this change does not affect the designated area feature.
