About Settings that Affect Regeneration of Features
During operations, the system performs the following actions by default:
Attaches the transformed surfaces to the background surfaces by extending the transformed surfaces to intersect the rest of the solid model
Recreates rounds and chamfers that extend from the edges of transformed surfaces to the new intersections of the transformed and background surfaces
Closes the gaps in the solid model that result from the surfaces being transformed to new locations
For move, offset, and modify analytic operations, if you have set the flex_tan_propagation_default configuration option to on, propagates the transformation to adjacent surfaces that are tangent to the surfaces being transformed
There are cases in which failures can be resolved, and design alternatives can be evaluated more quickly, if some of the default settings are modified:
To choose not to attach moved geometry, clear the Attach moved geometry check box on the Attachment tab.
To choose not to create round or chamfer geometry at the edges of the surface being transformed, clear the Create round/chamfer geometry check box on the Attachment tab.
To choose not to propagate tangency, perform one of the following actions:
Set the flex_tan_propagation_default to off.
Deselect .
To stop the system from trying to find a solution with the current options, click .
Technique for Slow Regeneration
If the regeneration takes a long time, you can try the following technique:
1. While the model is regenerating, click Stop at the bottom of the window to interrupt the regeneration. A failed feature is created.
2. In the Model Tree, click the failed feature and select Edit Definition. Even if you do not make any changes in the settings, this gives you the opportunity to check if the result is what you want.
3. Click OK. The feature regenerates.
