__Concept:__

Cutting speed of the grinding wheel is the relative peripheral speed of the wheel with respect to the workpiece.

It is expressed in meter per second (m/s). The cutting speed of the grinding wheel can be calculated as

\(V = \frac{{\pi DN}}{{60 \times 1000}}\)

D = diameter of the grinding wheel in mm, N = number of revolutions of the grinding wheel in rpm

__Calculation:__

__Given:__

D = 150 mm, N = 3000 rpm

__\(V = \frac{{\pi DN}}{{60 \times 1000}} \)__

__\(\therefore V = \frac{{\pi \times 150 \times 3000}}{{60 \times 1000}} = 7.5 \pi ~m/s\)__
