To Specify Entry and Exit Motions
1. When defining a Profile milling, Volume milling, or Trajectory milling NC sequence, click on the Parameters tab. The Edit Parameters dialog box opens.
2. Select Entry/Exit Motions from the Category list. A list of entry and exit parameters is displayed.
3. Select one of the following values for the CUT_ENTRY_EXT parameter for the entry motion:
NONE—No entry move.
LINE_TANGENT—The tool enters in a line tangent to the cut. The length of the line is defined by the TANGENT_LEAD_STEP parameter.
NORMAL—The entry motion is a straight line normal to the cut motion. The length of the line is defined by the NORMAL_LEAD_STEP parameter.
HELIX—The tool enters along a helix. The geometry of the helix is defined by the HELICAL_DIAMETER and RAMP_ANGLE parameters. You must specify a value for the APPROACH_DISTANCE parameter for the tool to take a helical entry path.
LEAD_IN—The tool leads into the cut. The move is defined by the TANGENT_LEAD_STEP, NORMAL_LEAD_STEP, LEAD_RADIUS, and ENTRY_ANGLE parameters.
ALONG_AXIS—The entry motion is along the selected axis for a plunge motion.
4. Select one of the following values for the CUT_EXIT_EXT parameter for the exit motion:
NONE—No exit move.
LINE_TANGENT—The tool exits in a line tangent to the cut. The length of the line is defined by the TANGENT_LEAD_STEP parameter.
NORMAL—The exit motion is a straight line normal to the cut motion. The length of the line is defined by the NORMAL_LEAD_STEP parameter.
LEAD_OUT—The tool leads out of the cut. The move is defined by the TANGENT_LEAD_STEP, NORMAL_LEAD_STEP, LEAD_RADIUS, and EXIT_ANGLE parameters.
ALONG_AXIS—The exit motion is along the selected axis for a retract motion.
5. Click OK to save the changes and close the dialog box.
