About Updating Parameter Definitions in a Model
You must update the parameter restriction definition in the model in case of conflicts between parameters defined in the restriction file and non-restricted parameters in the model that have the same name. You can generate a conflict report by clicking Tools > Conflict Report and resolve the conflicts by updating the parameter definitions in the Parameters dialog box.
*
Conflicts in the restriction definition occur when you update the restriction definition file or create a new restriction definition file for converting existing non-restricted parameters to restricted parameters. If you want to use a newly created restriction definition file, you must specify the path to that file by setting the restricted_val_definition configuration option and start Creo Parametric again.
If there are conflicts, that is, differences between parameters that have the same name defined in the restriction definition file and parameters (restricted or non-restricted) in the model, then the restricted parameter values in the model are not updated automatically. You must update the parameter definitions by selecting the parameter in the Parameters dialog box and clicking Tools > Update Restriction Definition.
On clicking Tools > Update Restriction Definition, Creo Parametric updates parameter definitions in the model such that they match the parameter definitions in the restriction definition file. However, Creo Parametric does not update the value of a parameter. A conflict in the values of updated parameters is represented by an orange dot next to the check box in the Restricted column of the Parameters dialog box. In the restriction definition file, if you have specified a range of values for a parameter, then you can select a new value from the list in the Value column for the respective parameter or enter a value in the specified range.
You can retain the existing value or edit the value of the parameter defined in the model. To edit the value of a parameter, select the parameter that you want to update and select a value from the list of updated values or enter a value in the specified range.
*
If a model has multiple parameters with the same name, all the parameters with the same name have a new definition when you click Tools > Update Restriction Definition.
You can convert a non-restricted parameter driven by relations to a restricted parameter. However, after conversion you cannot modify the values of restricted parameters in the Parameters dialog box.
While converting non-restricted parameters to restricted parameters, the Update Restriction Definition command fails if:
The parameter name, unit, or type defined in the model are different from the ones defined in the restriction definition file.
The defined parameter is a table-restricted parameter in the restriction definition file.
