About Saving an ECAD Assembly as a Base ECAD Design
A design for an ECAD assembly always starts on the MCAD side. When the MCAD designer creates a new ECAD assembly, the designer must save it as a base ECAD design for the ECAD designer. An ECAD assembly with a rigid board or a flexible board can be saved as a base EDMD (*.idx) file (or as a base ECAD EDA (*.eda) file). Changes in the board outline are ignored during collaboration. This file is then sent to the ECAD designer as the first iteration in the collaboration process. When you open a base ECAD design as an ECAD assembly, a default coordinate system ECAD_ORIGIN is created on (0,0,0).
