About Importing and Exporting Annotations with Product Manufacturing Information
You can use the Neutral file format to import and export annotations as graphical representations, especially when they include Product Manufacturing Information (PMI). Annotations such as 3D notes, dimensions, surface finish notes and symbols, general and weld symbols, geometric and dimensional tolerances (GD&T), set datum tags, and datum targets include PMI data.
The import and export of annotations are as follows:
Annotations and 3D notes are imported and exported as polyline representations by default.
The outlines of the true-type text fonts are extracted as closed-loop polylines.
The graphical or the polyline representation includes text exported as outlines and filled or stroked text that includes geometric elements for witness lines, bounding boxes, feature control frames, and arrows.
Annotation elements with filled text contain filled attributes on the text after export and import.
The default graphical representation consists of polylines.
Geometric and dimensional tolerances are imported and exported as stroked or exploded polylines.
The data that you use to organize the representations, such as saved views, annotation planes for positioning the PMI data, and the capability to link annotations with the associated geometry, are preserved. Annotation element and annotation feature names, colors, and the geometric references are also imported and exported. If the annotations are placed on layers in the Neutral files before the import, they are placed on the corresponding layers in Creo after the import. After import, the Creo application assigns annotation names to annotation elements. When you import annotations that are not annotation features, such as driving dimensions and feature notes, you can create an annotation feature with the same name as the original feature. Driving dimensions are exported as graphical representations.
