About Importing Dimensions Associated with Draft Entities
When you import DXF or DWG files, dimensions that were associated with the 2D draft entities before the import retain their association with the same entities after the import. If dimensions were not associative before import, you can link these non-associative dimensions to the relevant draft entities after import. For geometry changes after import, you can recalculate dimension values. That is, you can calculate the distance of the draft entities from the dimension witness lines and associate dimensions with those entities that are closest to the dimension witness lines.
You can set the following three configuration options to control the association of the imported dimensions with the draft entities. These configuration options are also available as user interface options in the Import DXF and the Import DWG dialog boxes.
intf2d_in_assoc_dim_geom—Controls the association of the imported dimensions with the imported draft entities.
intf2d_in_recompute_dim_value—Determines whether to recalculate dimension values after import.
auto_associate_dimensions—Automatically links the non-associative dimensions after import to the imported draft entities.
Creo first determines the imported draft entities that are close to the witness lines of the imported dimensions before it associates the dimensions with these draft entities. Therefore, if dimensions were associative before import, these dimensions do not retain their association with the original draft entities after import.
The import log file shows the following data:
The number of imported dimensions
The number of dimensions associated with the original draft entities after import
The number of dimensions associated with the draft entities that are closest to the dimension witness lines
