About Importing CADDS 5 Models
You must set the intf_cadds_version configuration option to 14 or 15 to import CADDS 5 parts and assemblies.
Import of CADDS 5 parts and assemblies to the Creo application is backward compatible. For example, if you set the pro_cadds5 converter to CADDS 5 version 12, you can only export Creo parts and assemblies to CADDS 5 version 12. However, you can import parts and assemblies from CADDS 5 Release 14 and earlier CADDS 5 versions such as CADDS 5 version 13, 12, and so on.
You can use profiles for the import. You can import the following CADDS 5 entities:
Hyperbola
Parabola
Nspline
Plane
Rsurface
Srev
Shell
Uv-Curve
Point
Line
Arc
Ellipse
Tcyl
Nsurface
Brep
Edge
Face
Loop
When you import CADDS 5 parts and assemblies, the Cplanes of the CADDS 5 models are imported as the coordinate systems of the imported models. Cplanes in CADDS 5 are construction planes that describe the three-dimensional coordinate system in model space. Layers along with the associated colors are also imported. The colors assigned to each CADDS 5 layer are transferred to the corresponding entities in the imported model. If there are changes to the layers, or the colors associated with the layers, you can use Associative Topology Bus (ATB) to update the imported model.
Import log files are automatically generated in the working directory when the import is complete. You can view the contents of the import log file in the Creo browser window with diagnostic details such as warnings and errors for each data type imported.
The Creo application regards imported parts and assemblies, including all of their components, as associative with the referenced parts and assemblies and owned by the referenced system.
