To Create an Envelope
1. Click . The Create Component dialog box opens.

You can also click New in the Envelope dialog box. (Model > Manage Views > Envelope Manager.)
2. Select Envelope. Accept the default File Name.
3. Click OK. The Envelope Definition Component Chooser opens.
4. To include all components in a zone in an envelope, select By zone.

By zone is only available if the assembly contains a closed quilt zone.
5. Select the components that the envelope will replace from the tree in the left pane of the dialog box or do one of the following:
Type the name of a component in the Search box.
Click Select > Advanced Search to open the Search Tool dialog box. Search for components.
Click Select > Select in main window to select the components in the graphics window.
The components selected are included in the envelope.
6. Click Envelope Part. The Envelope Method dialog box opens.
7. Accept the default Name or enter a new one.
8. Select an envelope creation method.
Create envelope part—Opens the Creation Options dialog box. Use one of the following methods to create an envelope part:
Copy from existing—Allows you to use a template model. Click Browse to select the template. Click OK. The Component Placement tab opens. Define placement and click .
Locate default datums—Use one of the following methods to locate datum planes for a new envelope part:
Three planes—Select three orthogonal datum planes to which the default new envelope part datum planes will be assembled.
Axis normal to plane—Select a single datum plane and an axis that is normal to it. The new envelope part is created with a datum plane and an axis is used to place the new component.
Align csys to csys—Select a coordinate system in the top-level assembly. A new envelope part  is created with a default coordinate system and default datum planes that is used to place the new component.
Empty—Creates a part without a template. The part is populated with shrinkwrap geometry when the envelope is defined.
Create features—Create features for a new part. It appears as the active part in the Model Tree.
Select existing assembly component—Select a component in the assembly and click OK. The Confirmation dialog box opens. Click Confirm to continue.
Surface subset shrinkwrap—Specify the shrinkwrap QualityLevel and Attributes. External referenced surfaces are copied into the shrinkwrap.
Faceted solid shrinkwrap—Specify the shrinkwrap QualityLevel and Attributes. The faceted solid geometry is computed to represent the selected external surfaces. This shrinkwrap type cannot be modified and is not associative with geometry changes in these models.
All solid surfaces subset shrinkwrap—Use one of the following methods to create the envelope:
Copy from existing—Allows you to use a template model. Click Browse to select the template. Click OK. The Shrinkwrap tab opens. Define the solid surfaces subset and click .

When you use a template part you can maintain specific standards throughout your models.
Empty—Does not utilize a template. The Shrinkwrap tab opens. Define the solid surfaces subset and click .
9. Click OK. You return to the Envelope Definition dialog box.
10. Click OK.
