About the Component Chooser User Interface
When you create, open, or redefine an external simplified representation, the Component Chooser dialog box opens. Use it to create and edit an external simplified representation. The Component Chooser consists of the following user interface items:
Undo and Redo buttons
Model Tree
Model Graphics
Shortcut menus
Display buttons
Buttons

Model Tree
The following commands are available:
Show—Sets the display of components in the Model Tree.
Check All—Selects all options in the list.
Active—Displays only active component nodes.
Inactive—Displays only inactive component nodes.
Envelope—Displays envelope parts.
Search box—Searches only expanded nodes. Start typing the name of a component.
Select—Includes the following commands:
Advanced Search—Opens the Search Tool dialog box to select components from the main window.
Select in main window—Enables component selection from the main window.
Model Rules—Creates or evaluates rules.
Evaluate Rules—Evaluates existing rules for the simplified representation.
Edit Rules—Opens the Rep dialog box to create new rules or edit existing rules.
—Sets the Component Chooser Model Tree options.
Columns—Displays the default columns available, click More to open the Model Tree Columns dialog box. Add or remove information columns.
Expand All—Expands all the Component Chooser Tree component nodes.
Expand To Selected—Expands the tree to see the components selected in the preview window.
Collapse All—Collapses all component nodes of the Component Chooser Tree.
Save Tree—Saves the Component Chooser Tree to a text file.
Model Graphics
The Model Graphics window displays graphics for selected components.
Show—Sets the display of components in the Model Graphics window.
Check All—Selects all options in the list.
Active—Displays only active component nodes.
Inactive—Displays only inactive component nodes.
Envelope—Displays envelope parts.
—Sets the display of components in the preview window.
Show Hidden—Displays hidden components.
Auto highlight on selection—Highlights selected components.
Auto update preview—Automatically updates components.
Update Preview—Shows updated components. This option is available when Auto update preview is not active.
Graphics Toolbar—Quickly selects components.
—Sets a filter to remove components smaller or larger than the specified size from the selection.
Slider—Move the slider to filter smaller or larger components. When you click (default) all components below this size are removed. When you click all components above this size are removed.
—Select a component to determine the size of components removed from selection.
—Removes all internal components from selection.
—Removes all external components from selection.
—Inverts the selection between selected and not selected components.
—Sets the selected components to master representation and excludes all other components.
Shortcut Menus
To access shortcut menus, right-click the assembly or a component in the Component Chooser Model Tree or Model Graphics window.
Set Representation to or Representation—Sets the representation of the component.
Derived—Derives the status from evaluation of the simplified representation.
Exclude—Excludes the selected component.
Master—Sets the selected components to the default state of Master representation.
Automatic—Sets the selected components to the Automatic representation.
Default Envelope Rep—Sets the selected components to the Default Envelope representation. When there is no default envelope, you are prompted to create one.
User Defined—Activates a simplified representation from the selected component.
Substitute—Substitutes a component with one of the following:
Envelope
Family Table
Interchange
To access additional shortcut menus right-click the Component Chooser Model Graphics window.
Shaded—Displays the model as shaded.
No Hidden—Displays the model with no hidden lines.
Hidden Line—Displays the model with hidden lines.
Wireframe—Displays the model in wireframe.
Refit—Refits the model view to the window.
Next—Selects the component closest to the pointer.
Previous—Selects the previous component.
Pick From List—Opens a list of components adjacent to the pointer. Select a component from the list.
To access Tree column shortcut menus, right-click the column header. To sort the column in ascending or descending order, click the column header.
Group By—Groups the nodes in the tree according to values in the column. Only one column can be grouped at a time. When you sort a second column, the nodes under each group are sorted.
Ungroup—Returns the components to the original structure. This command is the same as Options > Restore original structure.
Columns—Click More to open the Model Tree Columns dialog box. Add additional columns and click OK.
