To Define a Component Interface
1. In an open assembly, click Component Interface. The COMPONENT INTERFACE dialog box opens.
2. Accept the default name or enter a new one in the Interface Name box or the Properties tab Name box.
3. Accept User Defined as the Interface Template.
4. Choose a type from the Placement/Receiving Interface list:
Either—A receiving or placing interface
Receiving—A receiving assembly interface
Placing—A placing component interface
5. Select the reference surface, axis, datum plane, or datum point of the component for the first constraint.
6. Select the Constraint Type from the list. When you select Coincident or Distance, you must select an Explicit Type.
For a surface or datum plane, select either Mate, Align, Tangent, Pnt On Srf, or Edge On Srf.
For a point, select Align, Pnt On Line, or Pnt On Srf.
7. Select additional component references. Each selected reference is added as a new constraint.
8. Use the tabs to define the current interface Properties and Criteria.
9. Click OK. A placing interface is displayed in the Model Tree Footer in the Interfaces folder. A receiving interface appears in the Model Tree.
