Multiphase Flow for a Fuel Tank: Exercise 6—Defining Fluid Properties
1. Press CTRL and select all volumes under Domains.
2. In the Properties panel click the Model tab.
3. For Common, under Component fuel, set Value to 800 kg/m3
4. For Flow, under Component fuel, set the following values:
Viscosity Value to 0.002 Pa–s
Surface TensionSurface Tension
5. For Multiphase, set the following values:

Component Output
VolumeNo
Mass FractionYes
Volume FractionYes
Phase MassYes
Phase VolumeYes
For Initial Condition set Value to 0 (zero)
Component air
Component Output
VolumeNo

For Initial Condition set Value to 1
To have an initial level of oil in the tank, specify an expression as shown below:
1. In the Operations group, click Expression Editor. The Expression Editor dialog box opens.
2. In the Global Expressions box, type the following:
f_fuel = (z<0.2) ? 1 : 0
f_air = 1 - f_fuel
3. Under Domains, select Tank.
4. In the Properties panel click the Model tab.
5. For Multiphase, set the following values:
Under Component fuel, for Initial Condition set Value to f_fuel
Under Component air, for Initial Condition set Value to f_air
