Example: Weighted Link
In the following example, point P is on the dependent side and the surface of the cylindrical hole is on the independent side of a weighted link. If all three translational degrees of freedom (DOF) are constrained, point P moves as the average displacement of the hole surface.
If DOFs in the X and Y directions are not constrained, only deformation along the Z axis is taken into account while analyzing the model. Any translation in the XY plane is ignored.
