Developed length of material and Y factor and K factor

1. Bent condition 2. Flat Condition |
|
Where: = Distance between the inside radius of the bend and the neutral bend line T = Sheet metal thickness L = Length of neutral bend line R = Inside bend radius N = Neutral bend line |
|
K factor = δ/T
|
Y factor = K factor * (Π/2)
|
|
For stretched bends δ is negative. As a result, the neutral layer stays out of the sheet metal thickness causing the Y factor and K factor to be negative.

Negative Y-factor

Where:
δ = Distance between the neutral bend line and the inside bend radius
T = Sheet metal thickness
L = Length of neutral bend line
R = Bend radius
N = Neutral bend line
