To Extend a Pipeline Using a Csys Reference
1. Make sure there is a free end or start feature.
2. Click
Extend. The
Extend dialog box opens.
3. Select To Coordinates from the list.
4. Select a coordinate system or click the
Use Route Csys check box to use the route coordinate system as a reference.
5. Select the Dimension options:
◦ Select a System:
▪ Cartesian—Uses Cartesian coordinates for dimensions. This is the default.
▪ Cylindrical—Uses cylindrical coordinates for dimensions.
▪ Spherical—Uses spherical coordinates for dimensions.
◦ Use the Angle box to define the format of the angle in the selected system:
▪ Degrees—The angle is expressed as degrees.
▪ Gradient Ratio—The angle is expressed as a ratio. For example, for a 1:25 slope, set the ratio to 25. The end of the pipe segment drops 1 unit for every 25 units it moves forward.
▪ Gradient Percent—The angle is expressed as a percentage. For example, a 1:25 slope, set the angle to 4. The end of the pipe segment drops 4 percent of its total forward length.
| The Angle option is not applicable for the Cartesian system. The angle dimension is always displayed in degrees irrespective of the format specified in the Angle box. |
◦ Select a dimension Type:
▪ Relative—The extension is created relative to the start of the segment.
▪ Absolute—The extension is created relative to the global coordinate system.
6. Set the value for the extend in the Coordinates section:
◦ For Cartesian, type a value in the box, drag the handle in the graphics window, or use the thumbwheel to change an axis coordinate.
◦ For Spherical, type a value in the box, drag the handle in the graphic window, or use the thumbwheel to change the radius, Theta, or Phi.
◦ For Cylindrical, type a value in the box, drag the handle in the graphics window, or use the thumbwheel to change the radius, Theta, or Z-axis.
| Click to lock the coordinate value and click to unlock it. |
7. Click OK to extend the pipe segment and quit the dialog box or click Apply or middle-click to extend the segment and configure a new segment.
