To Create a Datum Plane Midplane Between Two References
Create a datum plane half way between two parallel references, or a datum plane that bisects the angle formed by two nonparallel references.
1. Click
Model >
Plane. The
Datum Plane dialog box opens.
2. On the Placement tab, click the References collector, and then select the first reference. Use one of the following entities:
◦ Planar surface, datum plane
◦ Axis, linear curve, linear edge
◦ Datum point, datum coordinate system, vertex
◦ Facet face, facet edge, facet vertex
| The geometry property of a facet reference is frozen, and does not update during regeneration. |
3. In the constraint list next to the first reference, click Midplane.
4. Hold down the CTRL key while you select the second reference.
5. When the two references are not parallel, next to the second reference, click the Bisector1 or Bisector2 constraint. The new plane bisects the α angle or the (180° - α) angle, depending on the location of your selections.
6. Click OK.
Parallel references
1. Axis reference
2. Datum plane reference
3. New datum plane midplane between two parallel references
Nonparallel references
1. Planar surface reference
2. Planar surface reference
3. New datum plane bisects the angle formed by two nonparallel references
