To Classify Surfaces
1. Click
Mold >
Parting Surface >
Classify Surfaces or
Cast >
Classify Surfaces. The
Classify Surfaces tab opens.
2. Click the
References collector and select one or more surfaces, or the reference model in the graphics window. Alternatively, select one or more surfaces, or the reference model on the
References tab. All solid surfaces of a model are selected when you select a model. The selected surfaces are automatically classified into core, cavity, and undercut regions.
3. On the Options tab, add or remove surfaces from the core, cavity, and undercut collectors. This classification of surfaces overrides the automatic classification.
4. Click the Regions tab and clear the selection of the check boxes of the surface quilts that you do not want to classify.
5. On the Regions tab, select a core, cavity, or undercut surface quilt to highlight it in the graphics window. You can also rename the classified surface in mold cavity. In cast cavity, you cannot rename the regions.
6. Perform the following tasks, if required:
◦ Click
Default Pull Direction and select a surface or a plane to specify the pull direction.
◦ In the Regions tab, right click a slider and select Add to Core or Add to Cavity to move the classified undercut surface to core or cavity, respectively.
◦ Click the Vertical Surfaces box and select Core or Cavity to add all vertical faces to that category. The vertical faces are drafted at zero degrees to the pull direction.
◦ Click the Transition Surfaces check box to include the overlapping surfaces in both core and cavity. By default, the check box is not selected, which implies that an overlapping surface is either in core or cavity region.
◦ Click the Silhouette Split check box to classify surfaces by the silhouette curve. When a surface of a model spans across surface regions, you can split the surface in the pull direction using silhouette curve.
◦ Specify the name of the feature on the Properties tab.
7. Click
OK.
