The reference parts must be cut out from the workpiece before you split it. On the Volume Split tab, click Refpart Cutout to open the Refpart Cutout tab, and cut out the reference parts from a workpiece or a die block. If you plan to use classified core, cavity, or undercut surfaces using Classify Surfaces command, you do not need to cut out the reference part. |
• If you have classified the surfaces, you must select the classified surfaces along with the parting surface. • If Refpart Cutout volume is selected as a split volume reference, you cannot select the classified surfaces as split surfaces. You must select a workpiece or a mold volume as a split volume reference to use the classified surfaces. • Ensure that the parting surface intersects a workpiece or a die block and does not intersect itself. • You can rename the volumes that are created after the split. |
To preview the final split feature, click to open the Verify mode. You cannot preview multiple split volume features in this mode. Only the parent volume is displayed as preview. |
If volume splitting fails, you can use the Split Curve command on the Volume Split tab to analyze and rectify the intersection curves of the volume that you want to split. While redefining the volume split feature, you can replace the volumes but you cannot alter the number of volumes into which the original volume has split. |
