About the PTC Mathcad Output File
You can create a PTC Mathcad output file from a PTC Mathcad analysis feature. The output file is identical to the PTC Mathcad file used to define the analysis feature, but evaluated based on updated values of the dimensions and parameters used in the PTC Mathcad analysis.
The creation of the PTC Mathcad output file is optional. The PTC Mathcad output file is created when you set Create to YES in the Result datums window while defining the PTC Mathcad analysis feature. Creo Parametric creates a temporary and a permanent output file based on the master PTC Mathcad file.
The PTC Mathcad output files have the following properties:
• Master file—Original file that defines the PTC Mathcad analysis feature. The permanent and temporary output files depend on the master file. However, the master file is independent of temporary and permanent output files. The master file is not affected by the creation, modification, or deletion of a PTC Mathcad analysis feature or the temporary or permanent output files.
• Temporary file—Created when you define the PTC Mathcad analysis feature. This file is updated when you regenerate the PTC Mathcad analysis feature. You can open the temporary output file by selecting the PTC Mathcad analysis feature on the Model Tree, right-clicking, and clicking Open Mathcad File on the shortcut menu. Creo Parametric does not delete the temporary output file even if the analysis feature is deleted, renamed, erased from the memory, or when the session is terminated. You must manually delete the file if it is not needed.
The default file name is <ptc mathcad filename>_<model name>_<feature id>_tmp.xmcd where,
◦ ptc mathcad filename is the name of the master PTC Mathcad file that defines the analysis feature
◦ model name is the name of the model that contains the PTC Mathcad analysis feature
◦ feature id is the feature ID of the PTC Mathcad analysis feature
• Permanent file—Creo Parametric saves the temporary file as a permanent output file when you save the model containing the PTC Mathcad analysis feature. This file is saved in the same directory as the model. It is treated as secondary content of the model that contains the PTC Mathcad analysis feature.
The default file name is <ptc mathcad filename>_<model name>_<feature id>.xmcd where,
◦ ptc mathcad filename is the name of the master PTC Mathcad file that defines the analysis feature
◦ model name is the name of the model that contains the PTC Mathcad analysis feature
◦ feature id is the feature ID of the PTC Mathcad analysis feature

• If you explicitly modify the temporary or permanent PTC Mathcad output files, the modifications do not propagate to the model that contains the PTC Mathcad analysis feature.
• To change the output file name, enter the name of the file in the Datum name box in the Result datums window while defining the PTC Mathcad analysis feature.
• If you set Create to NO in the Result datums window while defining the PTC Mathcad analysis feature, Creo Parametric does not create the temporary output file. You can still create and open the temporary output file by selecting the PTC Mathcad analysis feature on the Model Tree, right-clicking, and clicking Open Mathcad File on the shortcut menu. However, in this case the temporary file is not updated when the model is regenerated.
