To Create a Datum Feature Symbol
1. Annotate > Datum Feature Symbol. A dynamic preview of datum feature symbol appears. The previewed Datum Feature Symbol consists of the frame, triangle, and leader connecting the frame and triangle. The Datum Feature Symbol preview is attached to the pointer position with the point located in the middle of the bottom edge of the triangle. When you move the pointer, the Datum Feature Symbol preview is moved with the pointer. When you click the wheel button during the previewing of Datum Feature Symbol, it aborts the placement procedure and terminates the Datum Feature Symbol command. The previewed Datum Feature Symbol frame is empty, it is not filled with any data.

To Create a Datum Feature in part or assembly, you can select the references of the following types:
◦ Surface (all types are supported)
◦ Linear dimensions or extension lines of linear dimensions
◦ Radial dimension elbow
◦ Diameter dimension (elbow or dimension line)
◦ GTOL
The datum feature symbol appears attached to the selected entity.
3. Drag the pointer to specify the length of the datum feature symbol leader.
4. Middle-click to place the datum feature symbol. The Datum Feature ribbon is available.
5. Use the options on the ribbon to define the properties of the datum feature symbol.
6. Click in the graphics area to finish creating datum feature symbol.
