Rules for Inserting a Step from a Template
When you insert a step from a template, the system derives its elements from the information in the template based on the following rules:
• The step name is the same as the step name in the template. If the Process Table already contains a step with this name, the system appends a number to the step name, such as _000, _001, and so on.
• If the current workcell already contains a tool with the same name as the tool name in the template, this tool is used for the step.
|
It is important that your tool names uniquely identify the tools. The system uses the tool from the workcell even if its parameters are different than those defined in the template.
|
If the tool does not exist in the current workcell:
◦ The system searches other workcells in the current manufacturing process for a tool with this name. If found, the system adds the tool to the current workcell using the parameters from the other workcell.
◦ If the tool with this name is not found in the current manufacturing process, then it is added to the current workcell using the parameters derived from the template.
• All the manufacturing parameters are derived from the template.
• If the coordinate system and retract surface are defined in the operation where the step is inserted, the system automatically uses them for the step; otherwise, you have to define them.
• You need to redefine all the other geometric references for the newly created step, such as surfaces to mill, holes to drill, and so on. However, if the mfg_auto_ref_mfg_template configuration option is set to yes, Creo NC automatically assigns the references if their names and types in the manufacturing model and in the template are identical.
