About the ECAD_ORIGIN Coordinate System
When you create the first board segment, a group of board datums containing 3 datum planes and the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system, is created by default. The ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system is created on the bottom surface at the bottom left corner of the board. All collaboration and export tasks reference this coordinate system.
When you bend, unbend, bend back, or flatten a flexible board, it is not considered a change in geometry. The ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system will continue to follow the board.
When you change the board outline, the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system moves to align with the new geometry.
Changes made before the first collaboration session have no impact on collaboration. It is recommended to leave the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system in the new location.
Changing the location of ECAD_ORIGIN after a collaboration session will impact any collaborated objects on the board in the next collaboration session. It is recommended to move the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system to its previous location.
To move the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system to its previous location, right-click ECAD_ORIGIN in the Model Tree and choose Move to Previous Location. This is not necessarily the original location.
When you perform one of the following operations the ECAD_ORIGIN coordinate system remains static and will not move when you change the board outline.
• Import an ECAD assembly from an IDX file
• Complete a collaboration session
• Edit the definition of ECAD_ORIGIN
