About the Format Tab in Drawing
The Format tab appears when you select an annotation. In Drawing mode, when you select a note or table cell, the Format tab appears in the foreground. When you select other type of annotation, the Format tab remains in the background.
You can use the following group commands on the Format tab to modify properties of the selected annotation:
Note Tools
 
* The Note Tools group commands appear only when you select a note.
References—Open the References dialog box. It lists the details of the references that were used to create the selected note. You can use the References dialog box to select additional semantic references.
 
* The References command is not accessible in Drawing mode.
—Change the name of the note annotation.
Arrow Style—Modify the arrow style.
Text Editor—Open the Text Editor dialog box. The note text appears in a text editor. You can use the Text Editor dialog box to edit the note text. Click Insert to insert text from a text file or from a saved note. Click to insert symbols to the note.
Options—Modify the current note options.
Use the following options to control the position of the note:
Dependencies—These options are available only in Drawing mode.
With the Placement Position option, you can set the placement position of the selected note as Driven by model.
With the Attachment options, you can set the attachment point of the selected note as References driven by model and Attach point(s) driven by model.
Designation—These options are available only in Part mode.
You can designate the annotation elements as control characteristics. Select Designate and Control Characteristics to designate the annotation elements of the selected note as control characteristics.
Style
You can select the font and style of the annotation text.
Height—Modify the height of the text character. Click to reset to the default height.
Color—Apply the selected color to the annotation text.
Copy Text Style—Copy the text style from one annotation to another. Click and select the text from which you want to copy the style.
Bold, Italic, and Underline—Apply the format to the selected text or to the entire annotation.
 
* Bold is not available for some fonts.
Align Left, Center, and Align Right—Set the horizontal alignment of the annotation text.
Top Align, Middle Align, and Bottom Align—Set the vertical alignment of the annotation text.
Box—Apply a box outline to the selected text.
Superscript and Subscript—Apply the superscript and the subscript format to the selected text.
Bottom Origin Alignment, Move Origin Down, and Move Origin Up—Move the origin of the annotation.
Thickness—Set the character thickness of non-true type fonts. Click to reset to the default thickness.
Width Factor—Set the character width/height ratio of non-true type fonts. Click to reset to the default width factor.
Slant Angle—Set the slant angle.
Text Style—Modify the text style in the Text Style dialog box. Click Style > Text Style to open the Text Style dialog box.
 
* All options, except Switch Symbols, are unavailable when the Text Style dialog box is open.
Operations
Orientation Angle—Set the note orientation.
Line Spacing Factor—Set the line spacing factor. Click to reset to the default line spacing factor.
Break Hatching—Set the margin around the text in which hatching lines are broken.
Model Units—Set text height of flat to screen annotations that are attached to the geometry in model units.
 
* The Model Units command can only be used in Part mode.
Kerning—Apply kerning to the text.
Mirror—Change a note to its mirror image.
Hyperlink—Click . The Edit Hyperlink dialog box opens. You can add or edit a hyperlink and a screen tip for the note, or remove a hyperlink.
Text
Symbols palette—Insert a symbol in the note.
Insert Field—Add standard callouts to the note.
Note from File—Insert text from a text file or from a saved note.
Switch Dimensions—Toggle between dimension values and dimension names.
Save to File—Click Text > Save to File to save the text with the parametric information as numerical values. The information in the text file saved using this option contains only the note text. If you include a dimension in the note text, saving the note text using this option saves only the current value of the dimension.
Save Symbolic Note to File—Click Text > Save Symbolic Note to File to save the text with the parametric information as symbols. The information saved to a text file consists of the notes and details to parametrically control the text. If you include a dimension in the notes, saving the notes with this option also includes information to find the dimension in the model and generate its value in the notes.
Editor—Click Text > Editor to edit the note in Notepad.
Format
Wrap Text—Wrap multiple lines of text using the longest line as reference.
Toggle Leader Type—Click Format > Toggle Leader Type to switch the note leader between centered about elbow and above extended elbow.
Security Marking—Designate an unattached flat to screen note as a security marking.
