About the Compatibility of the TIM and Source CAD Model
Compatibility is established between the Translated Image Model (TIM) and its source model when you create or update the TIM and upload it to the server. The server maintains this compatibility between a pair of the TIM and the source.
The compatibility of the TIM and source depends on the version of the CAD documents as follows:
The compatibility is maintained when you create iterations of the derived CAD document (TIM) when the source CAD document is not in the workspace. For example, if you create body.asm A.1 from CATProduct B.3, and create an iteration of A.1 without any CAD documents in the workspace, then body.asm A.2 is compatible with CATProduct B.3.
If you revise the TIM CAD document without the source, then the original and the new versions of the TIM CAD document are compatible with the current version of the source. Check Status shows the up-to-date status.
For a TIM assembly created from a multisolid single non-native part that is imported as a flat assembly, you cannot revise any single component of the TIM assembly without revising all the components.
ATB update is a client operation. The server provides the client with all the TIMs of a non-native source model and the following compatibility information:
Whether the source is located in the workspace or the commonspace
Whether the TIM is in a Creo session or the workspace
The compatibility is broken when the TIM in session is updated, but not uploaded to the server. A TIM and a source that are not compatible, cannot be revised simultaneously. You cannot create a history link between them as they are not compatible.
