To Import a Part or Assembly STEP File

Interface > Working with Data Exchange Formats > STEP > Importing Part and Assembly STEP Files > To Import a Part or Assembly STEP File

1. Click File >

Open. The File Open dialog box opens.

2. Select STEP (.stp, .step) as the file type in the Type box.

3. Select the STEP part or assembly file you want to import from the list of available files or browse and select the STEP file.

4. Click Import. The Import New Model dialog box opens.

5. Retain the import profile in use or select an import profile from the Profile list in the Import New Model dialog box. Alternatively, click Details and customize the import profile settings in the STEP — Import Profile editor.

6. Select the Customize layers check box.

7. Click OK in the Import New Model dialog box. The Layer Import Options dialog box opens.

8. Set the import status of layers in the Layer Import Options dialog box and click OK. The STEP part or assembly model is imported and the import log file is automatically generated in the Working directory.
