To Export a Drawing to an IGES Drawing File
1. Set the following configuration options:
2. Click
File >
Save As >
Save a Copy in a drawing. The
Save a Copy dialog box opens.
3. Select IGES (*.igs) in the Type box.
4. Accept the default name in the New file name box or type a new model name for the export.
5. Click OK. The Export Environment for IGES dialog box opens.
6. Click the Entities tab. Select the options specific to the type of entity you want to export. You can export the following entities:
◦ Splines as is or as polylines
◦ Cross hatches as separate single geometric entities or as IGES Element Type 230.
If you set the
intf2d_iges_out_hatch configuration option to
yes, IGES Element Type 230, that is, a sectioned area, is created for each cross hatch
◦ Symbols as is or as separated entities.
◦ Points as is or as shapes.
| By specifying the interface quality, you can determine if an IGES drawing file contains overlapping entities. |
7. Click the Sheets tab.
8. Select
Current sheet,
All sheets, or
Selected sheets. If you click
Selected sheets, use
and
to select the sheets to export.
9. Click the Misc tab and set the following options:
◦ Click the Export Views check box to export drawing views.
◦ Set the User Defined Fonts option to As Is or As Solid Lines.
◦ Set the User Defined Colors option to As Is or As White.
◦ Click Open Log Window to open the preprocessor log file when the export is complete.
10. Click OK in the Export Environment for IGES dialog box to export the file and quit the dialog box or click Export to export the file without closing the dialog box.

The drawing is exported and a file named <drawingname>.igs or <drawingname>_#.igs is created, where # is the sheet number in a multi-sheet drawing.
