To Position a Straight Profile
1. To position the profile on a straight curve or edge, follow the steps below:
a. In the
Position Profile dialog box, under
Reference Method, click
. The
Curve or edge box is activated.
b. In the model, select a straight datum curve or edge on the model or click
next to the
Curve or edge box to use the
Creo Parametric sketcher tool to create a sketch with one straight line. A preview of the profile appears.
2. To position the profile between two points, follow the steps below:
a. In the
Position Profile dialog box under
Reference Method, click
. The
Start point box is activated.
b. In the model, select a datum point or vertex on the model. Alternatively, click
next to the
Start point box and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum point feature with one or two datum points. The
End point box is activated.
c. In the model, select a datum point or vertex or click
next to the
End point box, and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum point feature with one datum point. A preview of the profile appears.
3. To change the default orientation plane click the
Orientation plane box and then select a plane in the model that is parallel to the curve or edge to which you intend to assemble the profile. You also can click
next to the
Orientation plane box and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum plane feature.
4. Use the options described below to move the profile:
◦ —Aligns the selected geometry for the profile, such as surface, edge, or vertex, with the reference curve
◦ —Moves the profile to the predefined position as represented on the icon
◦ —Moves the profile to the predefined position as represented on the icon
◦ —Offsets the profile by specific values
◦ —Resets the profile position
5. Use the options described below to rotate the profile:
◦ —Rotates the profile by an angle as represented on the icon
◦ —Rotates the profile by an angle as represented on the icon
◦ —Rotates the profile by a specific value
◦ —Toggles the start and end point for the profile
6. Click the icon under Size and Standard to change the size and standard for the section.
7. To change the default name of the profile part, type a new name in the Filename box.
8. Repeat the above steps until the profile is previewed in the desired position.
9. Click one of the options listed below to continue:
◦ OK to complete profile positioning and close the dialog box.
◦ Repeat to complete profile positioning without closing the dialog box and continue with positioning of another profile.
◦ Cancel to cancel profile positioning and close the dialog box.
| After you select valid references to position the profile, it is displayed as a temporary preview until you complete or cancel profile positioning. |
